The History of Manuel Bros. Inc.
Twin brothers Alfred and Richard Manuel began their careers as underground and paving contractors. In 1977, another brother, John, joined them and together they officially formed R.W. Manuel and Associates. They started performing work as sub contractors, performing site work for developers and private homeowners. They soon found themselves in the telecommunication industry, completing numerous projects as subcontractors for Pacific Telephone in Northern California. The business earned them a place on Pacific Telephone’s Qualified Contractors List, and they began successfully obtaining and completing larger and larger contracts, not only in Northern California but in Central California as well.

In 1979 the brothers decided to incorporate and change from R.W. Manuel and Associates to Manuel Bros. Inc. In 1983, John Manuel sold his interest in Manuel Bros. Inc. to pursue other interests.

AT&T divested in 1983 and Pacific Telephone became Pacific Bell. Manuel Bros. Inc. continued working with Pacific Bell on a multitude of projects up and down the State of California. One notable and challenging project at that time extended over the California Grapevine near Gorman, California. This project was expansive and difficult; it consisted of trenching and laying 18 miles of 2-4" steel conduit across steep, mountainous terrain. To Manuel Bros. Inc. credit, this project was very successful, completed on time and within budget. After that project, Manuel Bros. Inc. accepted a major fiber optic contract with AT&T allowing them to branch outside of California. This major project expanded several hundred miles between Nevada, California and Arizona. Another large and difficult project brought in on time and in within budget. This type of continued success allowed Manuel Bros. Inc. to prosper.

In 1990, Alfred Manuel sold his interest in Manuel Bros., Inc. and thought about retirement. However, over the years Manuel Bros. Inc. has utilized Alfred’s expertise as a consultant on many projects.

In 1990, Richard Manuel passed away. Manuel Bros. Inc. honors his legacy by following his strong work ethic and professional integrity. He continues to be an inspiration in "getting the job done and done well" to all who knew him.

In October of 1998, Manuel Bros., Inc. was purchased by Quanta Services. This merger has allowed Manuel Bros. Inc. to expand and grow at a rapid pace. Quanta Services is a leading provider of specialized contracting services with hands on experience, backed by unmatched capabilities and resources as one of the nation’s largest specialized contractors.
